Today, mobile phone maker Motorola officially confirmed plans to provide the owners of the Moto X smartphone with an update to Android 4.4 KitKat in a matter of weeks.

Previously, the company confirmed plans to make the software available for its users, but it did not provide a specific release timeframe for that.

Today, however, Motorola’s CEO Dennis Woodside announced in the beginning of Moto G’s launch event that Android 4.4 KitKat would be available for the existing Moto X smartphones out there in the next weeks.

Most probably, Motorola is working with its carrier partners to release the update for all devices at the same time, and it will offer more specific details on the matter as it gets nearer to the upgrade’s availability date. Keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
