Canada’s Rogers will be the exclusive carrier for the new Moto X handset in the country, the company announced soon after the device went official.

The wireless operator confirms that the new mobile phone will land on its network in black and white color flavors before the end of August, and it will feature a price tag of $189.99 (€139) on select two-year plans.

Rogers provides existing customers with the possibility to reserve the device through the Rogers Reservation System, while encouraging new customers to go to www.rogers.com/motox to sign up for updates on its availability.

“Meet Moto X by Motorola, the ultimate wingman, because your smartphone should work for you-not the other way around. Moto X represents the best of Motorola and Google, and it's coming to Canada exclusively for Rogers Wireless customers,” the carrier announces.

Moto X arrives on shelves with a unique curved back that should make it fit great in the hand. Furthermore, it comes with an always-ready Google Now, which can be activated by voice, offering info that users need when they need it, without having to touch the screen.

Furthermore, they will be able to rapidly snap photos with the device through the new Quick Capture feature, which can be activated by simply twisting the wrist twice.

"At Motorola our roots are deep in mobile hardware - we invented mobile communications," says Odile Guinot, vice president of sales and general manager, Motorola Mobility Canada.

"Now, as a Google company, we've become the kind of company that can build a smartphone like Moto X. It fuses our history of mobile innovation with the best of Google mobile services."

Moto X lands on the market with a 4.7-inch screen, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 10-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, support for 4G LTE networks, the usual set of sensors and connectivity capabilities, and Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean loaded on top.
