Starting today, AT&T customers can purchase a new Android-based Motorola smartphone on the network of their wireless carrier, namely the Moto X.

The handset can already be seen listed on this page on the wireless carrier’s website, with a price tag of $199.99 (€150) attached to it with the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

Those who would like to grab the smartphone free of contract will be able to do so, though they will have to get $579.99 (€435) out of their pockets for that.

The smartphone is available in Black and White flavors, yet users will also enjoy a wider range of colors and other personalization options, courtesy of Moto Maker, set to debut in the near future.

“Moto X is designed by you and assembled by Motorola in the U.S. It responds to your voice - no touching necessary. Moto X is always ready to tell you what you need to know,” AT&T notes.

“Pick it up and Moto X is curved to fit in your hand. With a twist of your wrist, it becomes your camera. Once you turn it on, Moto X is ready to respond. Just talk.”

The new mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 pixels touchscreen display and is powered by Motorola’s X8 Mobile Computing System (which features a 1.7GHz dual-core application processor).

Moto X also sports 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 4G LTE capabilities, HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, built-in GPS receiver, and a 2200mAh battery that can deliver up to 13 hours of talk time.

Furthermore, the new device comes to the market with a 10-megapixel photo snapper on the back capable of full HD video recording, as well as with a 2MP camera on the front, for video calling. Motorola has loaded Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system on top of Moto X, with a small series of changes, though still capable of delivering almost a stock experience to all users.
