Moto X, the upcoming new Android-based smartphone from Motorola, might become available for purchase right after being officially unveiled on August 1, new reports on the matter suggest.

According to a Google+ post from Android and Me founder Taylor Wimberly, the device starts shipping to wireless carriers in the United States as soon as today, July 29, which means that it will indeed be available on Thursday, when it is made official.

Apparently, this rumor is unlikely to pan out, and PhoneArena claims that an inside source from Motorola has already confirmed that the new Moto X will become available at the same time with the new DROID devices for Verizon.

This means that we won’t see the smartphone put up for purchase before late August (the handset was previously said to arrive at Verizon on August 23). Stay tuned for more on this.
