The handset should be officially introduced before that day

Mobile phone maker Motorola has been long rumored to plan the release of a successor to its Moto G smartphone, and it seems that the device could arrive on shelves in about a month.

The handset is expected to be put up for purchase on September 10, when it will ship to retailers, though chances are that it will become official before that.

According to a recent article on GSMArena, one such retailer has already confirmed that the phone will become available on said date, and that the info comes from Motorola itself.

Apparently, some retailers will receive Moto G2 units before September 10, or even as early as late August, yet it’s unclear whether they will be able to start selling the phone before the aforementioned date.

The info is said to refer to the dual-SIM flavor of Moto G2, which will feature a price tag of around €250 ($335) when launched, which is twice the price that Moto G sports at the moment (and also higher than the Moto G 4G model).

In all fairness, we assume that Motorola will pack the new smartphone with a nice set of hardware enhancements, though it remains to be seen whether they will be as big so as to justify the large increase it price.

The Moto G2 is rumored to arrive on shelves with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, while being powered by a 1.2GHz a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU.

The processor will be complemented by Adreno 305 graphics and 1GB of RAM, which will ensure more-than-decent performance capabilities at all times.

The handset should include 8GB of internal memory, though no info on a possible microSD memory card slot has been provided as of now.

Moreover, the smartphone is said to land on shelves with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in an HD resolution, as well as with a 3MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Most probably, the new mobile phone will feature the usual connectivity set right from the start, including support for 4G LTE networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver.

Moreover, Moto G is expected to run under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box, most probably with little or no customizations loaded on top, just as it happened with the original.

Most probably, Motorola will make the new Moto G2 official in a matter of weeks, though it remains to be seen whether that will happen before the end of August or during the IFA 2014 show in Berlin.
