Motorola has started to push the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system to the owners of Moto G smartphones in Europe over the weekend, allowing users to download it over-the-air to their devices.

The smartphone was launched with an appealing price tag attached to it and with pretty decent specifications as well, and the availability of this upgrade should attract even more users to it.

The update started to arrive on devices in Europe only a few days after Vodafone UK announced plans to launch the Moto G with KitKat loaded on top right from the start, as Android Central notes.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat is the newest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Moto G users can check on the availability of the new software through going to Settings > About Phone >Software Updates.

However, it might not appear on all phones right from the start, as new firmware versions are usually rolled out in phases.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the new platform release brings along a nice range of enhancements to the device, including a variety of UI changes.

As part of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Google pushed out restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, color emoji support, better support for closed captioning, improved security, smarter power use, and more.

The phone app has also been improved in the new OS version, the same as the camera app, which now sports better “touch to focus” option with a new circular, on-screen control.

The Gallery app of Android has been updated with new photo editing options, and there is also support for printing photos, Google Docs, Gmail messages, and other content via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and hosted services.

Other changes in the update include SMS/MMS support in Hangouts and the option to set it as the default SMS app under Settings > Wireless > Default SMS app. Support for Square credit card reader has also been added to the platform.
