Today, mobile phone maker Motorola has officially announced the availability of a 4G LTE flavor of its Moto G smartphone, which is set to become available for purchase in various markets around the world soon.

In fact, the handset has been already confirmed for some countries out there, including Canada, where wireless carriers Fido and Rogers are set to pick it up.

According to a recent article on MobileSyrup, the smartphone will be released at both Fido and Rogers in the coming weeks, though no specific details on its availability have been provided as of now.

By the looks of it, however, users in Canada, as well as those in other markets, might have to wait for June to arrive in order to be able to purchase the new device.

The new flavor of the Moto G arrives on shelves with about the same features and capabilities as the original models, but adds two new capabilities.

The most obvious one is the support for 4G LTE networks, a functionality that has brought a lot of criticism to Motorola, given the fact that the Moto G was launched last year without it.

The second new feature included in the phone is a microSD memory card slot, with offers support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The smartphone was announced with 8GB of internal memory, and the microSD card slot will allow users to enjoy much more than that. The original only offered 8GB or 16GB of internal storage.

Additionally, the new phone model will allow users to add to it a variety of colored black covers, for increased personalization.

Users in Canada interested in the purchase of the new handset will have to pay $224.99 (€151) for it at both Fido and Rogers, provided, of course, that they want to grab it outright.

Those willing to settle for a contract agreement will find it at $0 on a Smart plan at Fido (or at $50/€33 on a Standard plan), and will have to pay the same $0 outright amount if they go for a two-year contract at Rogers.

However, it seems that the arrival of the new Moto G LTE will also affect the availability of the original model. Motorola is said to plan on bringing the 16GB HSPA+ variant of Moto G to Staples starting with June, and will provide users with the possibility to grab it at $249 (€167), unlocked and free of contract.
