The most craved for Android Wear smartwatch will be up for customization

Back at Google’s I/O conference, most of us were a little disappointed when only the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live Android Wear smartwatches were announced to be made available for purchase that very day.

The highly anticipated Moto 360 did make an appearance at the event, showing its beautiful design in some Android Wear demos, but we were told the smartwatch would arrive on the market later this summer.

Now, the guys at PhoneArena claim one source familiar with the matter has talked to them, revealing that the Moto 360 smartwatch will be officially launched alongside the Motorola X+1 smartphone. Moreover, both of them will be made available through Moto Maker.

Moto Maker is Motorola’s attempt to differentiate itself in the saturated smartphone market, by offering customization options for the device, before being shipped off to purchasing customers.

So it appears you’ll be able to create your custom Moto 360, too. For now, it’s rather unclear what customization options will be offered. For one thing, we do know customers will be able to choose between a black and a steel strap. Motorola will end up offering leather, metal and sporty rubber, but it remains to be seen if the metal bands will make it in time for the summer launch.

In anticipation of the big launch event, Motorola has already posted the official hands-on with the smartwatch, so you can take a look and see how your favorite Android Wear watch so far (we know it is) behaves in real-life.

Motorola has been quite mysterious about the watch’s specifications, but even so some slipped into the wild.

Apart from its obvious round display, this Android Wear smartwatch is expected to take advantage of OLED technology and boast multiple stylish watch faces. We've already seen the winner of Motorola’s watch face contest, which might be included in Moto 360’s final design.

While most customers will certainly be attracted by the watch’s design, another major positive point of the product is the wireless technology embedded into it, specifically magnetic induction.

Anyway, if you are really anxious about purchasing a smartwatch, you do have two viable options at your disposal, in the form of the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. Surely, they aren't round and gorgeous, but they rely on the “boring” square design.

Compared to the previous Gear 2 and Gear 2 models, the Gear Live doesn’t bring much to the table, except opening up the possibilities for Android Wear; but if that’s what you’re looking for, check out the Play store right now.
