Katamari Damacy Mobile turned out as a big hit when it arrived on Xbox 360 and PS3. Now, Namco Bandai has decided to release a version of this game for mobile phone users too.

The mobile version of Katamari Damacy Mobile comes with motion sensitive controls which will be sensed through a built-in camera that most mobile phones come equipped with. This technology has been used before on handsets in order to provide a unique navigation experience through the phone's menu. In order to use it in this game, there is no sense motion hardware required. This feature is enabled after accepting a specific software which comes in the game's installation pack.

The object of the game is that of moving the Katamari ball forward, backward, left and right only by tilting the mobile phone and holding a button pressed. As the lump rolls through chambers and city streets, all objects that it touches stick to it and stay there throughout the game. The more you roll your Katamari ball, the bigger it will get, looking like a huge pile of rubbish. Moreover, the game features three play modes.

The first one is attack mode, which requires trying to make the Katamari as big as possible by gathering as much rubbish as possible within a time limit. The second is the "perfect-size" challenge, which asks for the user to try to make the Katamari reach a specific size. There is also an "eternal" mode, which allows the player to make the Katamari as large as they wish.

Katamari Damacy Mobile will be available for Japanese iMode series 904i phones this June. Owners of other phone models will have to install the game themselves, through the Namco Games channel. All that they need is a NTT DoCoMo handset with as much available memory space as possible. The game will be available in exchange for a subscription of 1.5 euros on a monthly basis.
