Motion Computing, a leading manufacturer of mobile computing and wireless communications, has unveiled today a new rugged tablet PC that is said to be capable of providing the user with a high-quality computing experience all through the day and even when exposed to bright sunlight. The J3400 tablet PC combines a rugged and sleek design to provide the end-user with a dual-battery configuration and an outdoor-visible LCD. It is equipped with some of the latest hardware components on the market and is capable of providing a high level of performance.

“The J3400 was developed based on more than seven years of tablet PC experience, and feedback from customers across industries,” said David Altounian, president and CEO, Motion Computing. “It is a mobile computing device with the capabilities our customers are demanding – a powerful processor with a compact rugged design that supports users who must be productive whether in the field or in the office.”

The tablet is IP-52 rated and is compliant with the MIL-STD-810F specifications, capable of withstanding a three-foot drop on plywood over concrete. The device's ruggedness is due to some unique features, including a 1.8-inch hard with extra shock protection, a shock-mounted display and HDD with DataGuard, an accelerometer, or an optional low-cost 64GB SSD for better vibration protection.

Other built-in features include a 2.0MP webcamera, smartcard and fingerprint reader, GPS and FlexDock offering support for full input/output connections, a convenient charging bay and mounting compatibility with any VESA device. The system is packed with the Intel Centrino 2 processor, offering support for the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, an integrated WiFi Link 5300 series with 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, CSR BlueCore, Bluetooth 2.1 and integrated Gobi mobile broadband, extending the tablet's communication options.

Price-wise, the Motion J3400 tablet PC is now available at a starting price tag of $2.299 and is sold by authorized Motion resellers and distributors worldwide. For a closer look at what the J3400 is capable of, be sure to watch the hands-on experience of Rob Bushway for gottabemobile.com.
