The celebrity wants the meat industry to treat pigs with more consideration

Celebrity Kristen Bell has recently sent a letter to Neil Dierks, the CEO of the National Pork Producers Council.

Her goal was that of convincing him to take active measures towards making the meat industry behave more friendly and with more consideration towards pigs, especially pregnant ones.

For those unaware, Kristen Bell is both a mother-to-be and a vegetarian, which is why her decision to speak up for pregnant pigs should not take people by surprise.

Thus, what bothers Kristen Bell the most is the fact that pregnant pigs are more often than not kept in so-called gestation crates, which limit their movements and cause them to experience both physical and psychological stress, Ecorazzi reports.

“Regardless of what our individual diets might be, one thing all Americans can agree on is that pigs deserve better than these gestation crates. They're cruel, inhumane, and totally out of whack with people's values about how we ought to treat animals,” reads Kristen's letter.

Those who agree with the actress can also help put an end to the practice of keeping pregnant pigs in gestation crates by visiting the official website for the Humane Society of the United States.
