The mother of Baby No. 59, an infant rescued from a sewage pipe in China has been present during rescue operations, reports are saying.

As I wrote earlier today, the child was delivered in a toilet in an apartment building in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. The 22-year-old mother was desperate about raising the child on her own and decided to get rid of him.

She had a one-night stand with the father, and he denied participating in the boy's life. She also mentioned not having enough money to get an abortion.

She apparently had a change of heart as she called in rescuers to free the baby and watched as he was being saved, Daily Mail reports.

The baby is safe and he is currently recovering from cuts and bruises at Pujiang County People’s Hospital in Jinhua.
