Dina Lohan talks about Lindsay’s jail sentence, rehab time and media propaganda

As rumor is starting to pick up that Lindsay Lohan may be leaving the UCLA rehab earlier than scheduled, her mother has just given the first interview since her legal troubles began to Matt Lauer.

Dina Lohan, who has often been accused in the media of being an enabler for her daughter by mostly choosing to deny that she (Lindsay) had any responsibility in what was going wrong in her life, adopts the same attitude in the interview.

Granted, Lindsay did make a mistake when she got behind the wheel of her car in 2007 after a few drinks (police actually found cocaine on her person and in her blood, though), but the judge assigned to her case totally went overboard with everything, Dina says.

As Dina sees it, Lindsay is far from the spoiled, out of control brat the media portrays her to be – and she should know best because she’s her mother.

There is a fine line to be walked between gossip in the tabloids and fact, with the latter rarely being present in reports on Lindsay’s life, career or personal problems, her mother insists.

At one point, she even gets completely defensive as Lauer is trying to get her to talk about Lindsay’s trial and whether she deserved to be sent to jail and rehab, as the video below will also confirm.

“No, not for this particular offense. She violated – actually, didn’t violate but did – uh she violated… she was supposed to be… she was in for missing a couple of classes that she made up and she was working at the time and the judge went overboard and put her in serious lockdown for two weeks with murderers,” Dina says when asked whether Lindsay deserved jail time.

“I actually visited her behind glass and Lindsay missed the driving classes that she made up before she went to court and now the judge is being taken off the case and it’s a really serious offense for a judge. She went against the district attorney,” she adds.

In the same interview, Dina denies Lindsay enjoyed any special treatment while behind bars and refuses to comment on the possibility of her getting out of rehab earlier. She also vehemently denies she could have prevented in any way her daughter’s problems.
