Whenever a baby giraffe is born at a zoo or some other animal sanctuary, ordinary folks and the people in charge of taking care of it shower it with attention.

However, when a 27-year-old female giraffe living at Everland zoo in South Korea gave birth to a not-so-little bundle of joy this past September 8, it was she that stole the spotlight.

This was because, as surprising as this may sound, the calf born only a few days ago is Jan-soon's 18th.

Yup, ever since the age of 4, this mother giraffe has been extremely busy being pregnant and giving birth to adorable reticulated giraffes.

According to Zoo Borns, this means that Jan-soon is by far the most prolific mother giraffe living in captivity.

Zoo employees say that the female giraffe and her latest offspring are healthy and active. They enjoy spending time in each other's company, and have bonded quite well.
