The first tier computer hardware producing companies are seeing good revenues for the last month as the traditional back to school shopping season left its mark on the market and most such companies were smart enough to make the most of it.

As the summer months fade away and the holiday shopping spree moves closer, all important mainboard manufacturing companies, except Gigabyte Technology, posted increased revenues for September and according to the news site digitimes that cited a number of sources from those companies, things are looking good for the near future too.

Traditionally, the top-tier mainboard manufacturers are considered to be Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and ECS and among those companies, when it comes to posted revenues, Asus is on the first place, while the once powerful Gigabyte is the last on the list. Asustek Computer, the company that owns the Asus brand, posted for September consolidated revenues of $1.96 billion, which translates into an increase of around 25 percent over the previous month and of around 37 percent over the same general time frame a year ago.

The revenue boost was independent from the fact that the company only shipped around 5 million motherboards, which can be seen as a 9 percent drop when compared to August, while the graphics cards business suffered too as it went down by five percent, to only 1.1 million units.

As the global market segment for mobile computer systems is rising fast, Asustek was in a good position to make the most of it, as the company manufactured and shipped around 750,000 units during September, which means a slight boost on around ten percent when compared to the previous month.

The other two following companies, ECS and MSI, posted revenue boosts, as Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS for short) registered a growth of 30 percent on month and almost 80 percent on year. When it comes to the number of mainboards shipped, ECS is touting a 2.41 million units in September. Micro-Star International (MSI for short) is another company that had a good month as it posted a boost of 7.4 percent on month and 32.3 percent on year. The only company among the first tier mainboard producers that posted decreasing revenues was Gigabyte that registered a drop in sales and revenues of 6.7 on month and 8.21 on year.
