The development team at NetherRealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive have not delivered too many details on the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, but a leak related to the game shows that fan favorite Kano will be one of the characters that players will be able to control when the title is launched.

The news comes from Gamepur, which is quoting information from a German magazine called GamePro.

There’s little information on how Kano will play in Mortal Kombat X, but the description offered for the fighter suggests that his trademark brutality will be present and that he will also have access to some more subtle techniques.

It seems that NetherRealm Studios has plans to talk about more of the characters that will be present in its game in the coming weeks, which probably means that a big demo is being planned for the upcoming Gamescom 2014 event.

Kano has been featured in Mortal Kombat titles since the series was first introduced in 1992, and he quickly became one of the favorites of the fan base, renowned for his brutality and complex move set.

The character is a mercenary who has a close association with a powerful crime family known as the Black Dragon, and he has long battled Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs.

He is best known for his metallic half-face plate, which includes a powerful laser and allows him to deliver his signature headbutt.

As the Mortal Kombat series has evolved, Kano has also become involved with Shao Kahn and has led his armies into battle as recognition of his abilities.

It’s unclear whether the new incarnation of the character will use his throwing knives and his cannonball move, which allowed him to both stun enemies and quickly move across the battlefield, or if the development team at NetherRealm has plans to introduce a new series of moves for him.

Mortal Kombat X is designed to use the power of the next-gen consoles in order to deliver a gameplay experience that blends seamlessly with cinematics and creates a new type of experience for the franchise.

Creator Ed Boon has promised gamers that the combat mechanics will remain familiar, but they will also introduce a number of innovative ideas.

Mortal Kombat X will be launched at some point in 2015 on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and there are no plans to port it to last-gen consoles.
