A certain kind of finishing move that has been absent in recent years will make a return in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, series creator Ed Boon has announced.

Boon has teased fans of the long-standing fighting game franchise regarding the return of an established type of Fatality during a recent interview with IGN.

"For those who are familiar with the Mortal Kombat, we’ve first had the Fatality and we added a Babality. We had the Friendship moves, Brutality moves and all of these crazy things over the years."

"We are going to be reinstating an 'Ality' from a previous game into Mortal Kombat X. And I can’t wait to be able to talk about it but at the moment I can’t," Boon teases.

The types of finishing moves Boon mentions are the Babality, during which an opponent is turned into the toddler version of him or herself, the Friendship, which consists of a different move for every character, with Johnny Cage signing an autographed picture of himself, or Scorpion producing a jack-in-the-box in different games in the series.

The Brutality consists of a series of combos inflicted on an adversary, whereupon the enemy simply explodes into a shower of blood, bones and guts, and during an Animality, the winning character transforms into a beast that devours his opponent.

Mortal Kombat X is expected to come out sometime during 2015, for the PC, and the last and current generation of consoles.
