Developer NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the latest fighter to join the roster of playable characters in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, Ermac.

The character made its debut in Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate, back in the day, as a red-clad ninja, similar to Sub-Zero and Scorpion, only with a powerful command of telekinesis. His abilities revolve around dealing damage from afar and teleporting across the battlefield.

Although he was originally introduced as a palette swap of the Scorpion model, he now seems to have a pretty strong personality, complete with the taunting quips that fighters throw against each other at the beginning of a match.

You can see him in action below, in a brief clip from NetherRealm's livestream from yesterday.

Ermac is now the 14th confirmed character, and it seems that Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon was dead serious when he said that this entry would have a ton of surprises and a crazy number of new fighters.

Ed Boon has been really good at promoting the game

The designer started teasing fans about a Mortal Kombat-related announcement well before the reveal of the upcoming entry in the series, and ever since then, he has been keeping it up, getting the fan community hyped about the game.

The latest characters to join the brawler's cast are Kitana and Reptile, joining returning fighters Kano, Kitana, Kung lao, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Quan Chi.

In addition to the old members of the cast, Mortal Kombat X will also see the introduction of D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Ferra/Torr and Cassie Cage, completely new warriors that look promising so far.

Goro has also been revealed to be a pre-order exclusive character.

Mortal Kombat X is coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms on April 14, 2015.
