Mortal Kombat X is the new leader of the United Kingdom video game chart, managing to secure the position during its first week on sale despite having some problems on the PC.

The fighting game from NetherRealms Studios and Warner Bros. has already received one major patch and is currently in much better shape, with gamers able to enjoy improved balance for characters and improved online stability.

The two companies have long-term plans to introduce new content for Mortal Kombat X, which means that it has a chance to hold its current position over the coming weeks.

Second place has been occupied by Grand Theft Auto V, the open world experience from Rockstar, which has used its PC launch to take another big step towards number one, according to data compiled by UKIE.

The new version of the title introduces better graphics and some more content to enjoy.

The final position on the podium for the week that ended on April 18 belongs to Battlefield Hardline, the first-person shooter from Visceral Games and Electronic Arts, which has dropped two positions when compared to the previous seven-day period.

The best of the rest

FIFA 15, the football sim from EA Sports, has also dropped two positions and is now in fourth, able to mount a comeback once the spring launch season is done for other publishers.

Bloodborne has also improved its performance and has managed to gain one place in order to sit in fifth, but the fact that it is only offered on the PS4 means that it will never return to the top.

Sixth position in the United Kingdom is the domain of Far Cry 4, another title that uses an open world structure, this time created by Ubisoft.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the first-person shooter from Sledgehammer Games and Activision, is in seventh place, continuing its long decline, which will only be stopped by the addition of more DLC.

Minecraft occupies both eighth and ninth place, with the Xbox version of the title ahead of the PlayStation one.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Dying Light.
