Director Kevin Tancharoen and Machinima are announcing that a second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy will be launched next year, with the first episode set to be offered during the Streamy Awards ceremony, which will take place on February 17.

The main new characters for the new season of the Mortal Kombat web series are Liu Kang and Ermac.

Casper Van Dien, best known for his work in Starship Troopers, will be playing Johnny Cage, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa will be the new Shang Tsung, after playing the same character in the 1995 movie based on the same video game franchise.

The first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy has attracted more than 60 million views and the director promises more complex storylines and better visual effects for the coming content.

No Mortal Kombat game is in development at the moment.
