Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that the previously announced Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be released onto the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade services next week.

The full-pledged Mortal Kombat reboot that appeared earlier this year made quite a lot of money for Warner Bros., largely because it followed the violent recipe of the original fighting games, delivering a proper, M-rated experience to gamers all around the world.

As such, the company is keen on making more money out of the franchise, so it's releasing a special Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection next week, which bundles the first three games in the series that appeared exclusively for arcade machines many years ago.

Set to include the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, the downloadable 'Kollection' will be released on August 31 for both the PlayStation 3, through the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox 360, through the Xbox Live Marketplace, costing either $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points.

Besides bringing all of its classic fighters, gameplay and special fatalities, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is also set to bring online multiplayer, leaderboards support, as well as achievements and trophies, not to mention a classic arcade mode, which delivers the same retro experience from many years ago.

The bundle has been developed by Other Ocean, under the supervision of NetherRealm, the studio behind the recent Mortal Kombat reboot, led by franchise co-creator Ed Boon.

For those that don't want to spend money on the new downloadable title, Warner Bros. is also offering quite a lot of downloadable content (aka 'Downloadable Kontent') for the full-pledged Mortal Kombat reboot, with new characters like Freddy Kruger, from the famous Nightmare on Elm Street movie series, as well as more traditional fighters like Kenshi, Skarlet or Rain. Retro DLC packs, with classic costumes for famous characters like Sub-Zero or Scorpion, are also available.
