Mortal Kombat 4 was the last game of the series to work out an arcade version. “The king is dead, long live the king!” This saying is particularly true with Mortal Kombat 4, since it was an end that heralded the beginning of another age. Thus the title joined the ranks of the classics and has, ever since, been remembered as a high in the franchise history. Should you feel a bit nostalgic and want to take up arms again against your favorite human opponent, it might be a good idea to practice some first. Here are some cheats and unlockables to get you started.

Cheat Codes

Unlock extra costumes

Hold [Start] and press any button to rotate the select screen pictures. You need to rotate them two times to unlock each character’s second outfit, save for Sonya and Tanya. Their special costumes will be enabled upon the third rotation.

Cheat menu

Highlight the "Continue" selection on the options screen. Hold [Low Kick] + [Block] until you see a cheat menu popping up and the narrator says "Outstanding" in a loud voice. This will provide several cheat options "Endings", "Fatalities 1", "Fatalities 2", and "Level Fatalities". You can only choose one of the presented options at any given time, since selecting them simultaneously has no effect.

When enabling the "Endings" option, you’ll instantly beat the game once you defeat just one opponent in arcade mode. When enabling the "Fatalities 1" option on the cheat menu, all you need is to hold [Down] and press [High Punch] to finish your opponent with your character’s first fatality. Enable the "Fatalities 2" and do the same key combination for your character’s second fatality. Once you enable the "Level Fatalities" option on the cheat menu your avatar will perform its level fatality while pressing [Down] and [High Punch]. On addition, the spike fatality can now be performed on any level.

Play Goro

Successfully complete the game with Shinnok. Change Shinnok's costume, then select the invisible icon at the bottom of the character selection screen. Press [Up] [Up] [Up] [Left] to highlight Shinnok's icon, and then press [Run] + [Block].

Play Meat

Enter "Group Mode" and successfully complete the game with all sixteen characters. After this has been accomplished, select any character and begin a match. Your character will play as Meat with all the moves of the character that was selected.

Play Noob Saibot

Successfully complete the game with Reiko. Enter the 012 012 cheat code in versus mode. Exit this match and enter the character selection screen. Select the invisible icon at the bottom of the character selection screen. Press [Up] [Up] [Left] to highlight Reiko's icon, then press [Run] + [Block].
