Mortal Kombat 3 - Codes (PSX)

Mortal Kombat 3 builds further on the gameplay of the previous game. A "Run" button, accompanied by a "Run" meter, was introduced. This was primarily to address concern from fans who thought that the previous games gave too much of an advantage to the defending player. The Run meter is drained by running (the character cannot run backwards, only forwards) and by performing combos. "Chain combos", also known as pre-programmed combos (labeled "dial-a-combos") were also introduced. To please players of various skill levels, a "Choose Your Destiny" screen appears in 1-player mode. This new feature allowed player-selectable difficulty.

Codes

Extended menu 1
Press X, L1, L2 after the "Prepare For Kombat" screen. The sound of a cymbal will confirm correct code entry. Press Up at the "Kombat" option of the Kombat Kube and a blue question mark will appear. The following options will be available: Free Play (off/on), Smoke (off/on), Fatality Time (on/off), and Level Select (off/on).

Extended menu 2
Press X, Circle, Triangle, R1(2), R2(2), R1(2) at the copyright screen. Shao Kahn will say "You'll never win" to confirm correct code entry. Press Up at the "Kombat" option of the Kombat Kube and a blue question mark will appear with two more options: Round Match (off/on), 1 Hit Death (off/on).

Random select
Press Up + Start on the select screen to select a random character.

Unlimited continues
Press Up(2), Right(2), Left(2), Down(2) during story mode.
Ultimate Kombat Kodes:
Press the D-pad in a 360 degree clockwise circle (Down, Left, Up, Right) at the copyright screen. A prompt for an Ultimate Kombat Kode will appear. The icons on the bottom of the VS screen can be changed by pressing the HP, HK, and LK buttons in that order. Pressing Up and a button changes the icons in reverse order. Player one selects the first three codes and Player two controls the last three. When icons are placed in a certain combination, a Kombat Kode is revealed.
