Morrissey is nothing if not committed to defending animal rights. In a recent interview, the musician says that, whenever he meets someone who enjoys the taste of meat, he simply turns and walks away as a sign of protest against this individual's barbaric culinary choices.

“If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away,” Morrissey said, as cited by Ecorazzi.

Apparently, Morrissey is quite gifted when it comes to reading between the lines. Thus, the way he sees things, people who eat meat and openly admit to it are basically saying that they enjoy cruelty and are pretty much soulless.

“Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,’ well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers,” the singer explains his choice to walk away when he is introduced to a meat eater.

“I would like to ask meat-eaters why they believe that animals should not have any rights to live their own lives, whilst humans fiercely demand a god-given right to live as they wish simply by reason of their birth alone,” he added.

Given how many meat eaters there are on this planet, one can only assume that, throughout the course of an entire year, Morrissey has quite a lot of walking backwards to do.

Then again, walking does count as a form of exercise, so maybe having to leave a room whenever a meat eater steps in is not all that bad.
