Not long ago, green group PETA kindly asked President Obama not to pardon any turkeys this Thanksgiving. Fast forward a couple of days, and the President received a similar request, except that this time musician Morrissey was the one urging him to quit pardoning birds.

Unlike PETA, Morrissey did not keep his gloves on, and made some not-so-polite comments about President Obama and his allegedly supporting animal cruelty and animal abuse.

“Please ignore the abysmal example set by President Obama who, in the name of Thanksgiving, supports torture as 45 million birds are horrifically abused; dragged through electrified stun baths, and then have their throats slit. And President Obama laughs,” the musician said in a statement, as cited by Ecorazzi.

“Further, the meat industry is responsible for 51 per cent of human-caused greenhouse-gas emission, therefore the embarrassingly stupid White House ‘turkey pardon’ is open support for a viciously cruel and environmentally irresponsible industry,” he added.

Neither President Obama nor his staff has thus far responded to Morrissey's accusations.
