The rocker says he will reschedule his performance if Duck Dynasty is kicked off the show

Rocker Morrissey caused quite a media stir when deciding to go public with the news that, previous agreements aside, he would no longer make an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live later this week.

To make matters even more interesting, Morrissey's canceling on Kimmel has nothing to do with the rocker's falling ill or getting involved in some accident.

Quite the contrary: his going back on his promises to perform in said show is the result of the rocker's learning that he would have to share the set with the cast of Duck Dynasty.

For those unaware, Duck Dynasty is a reality TV show which tells the tale of the Robertson family, whose members all became quite wealthy by manufacturing and marketing gizmos and other products used by duck hunters.

Since Morrissey is both a vegetarian and a firm believer in animal rights, it comes as only logical that the rocker would refuse to be within walking distance of a group of people who earn their living by making it easier for heartless individuals to end the lives of defenseless animals.

According to Huffington Post, the official statement made by Morrissey when announcing that he would no longer perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live was as follows:

“[I] cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests. As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty, then we must step away.”

By the looks of it, the rocker is ready and willing to appear on Jimmy Kemmel Live if and only if the cast of Duck Dynasty is removed from the show.

“Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed,” reads a statement reportedly issued by Morrissey's PR crew.

Since the chances of this happening are slim to none, rumor has it that Morrissey will eventually reschedule his performance for a later date.
