Developer Red Herring Labs and publisher Phoenix Online have just announced the upcoming release of a new adventure game for PC, Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock.

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock will launch on Steam, the Humble Bundle Store, and other third-party retailers and will be available for purchase for only $9.99 (€9.99).

Fans of the genre might want to know that Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is an atmospheric sci-fi first-person point-and-click adventure that will be released on February 17, on both PC and Mac.

It's a remake of a 2009 point & click adventure game

For those unaware, Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is some sort of remastered edition of the highly acclaimed Morningstar webgame launched back in May, 2009.

Players will crash-land on an alien planet that appears to be empty and benign at first glance, but as they continue to explore the landscape, they will discover that something dark hides in the shadows.

You play as Powell and your mission is to repair your merchant vessel Morningstar and save the crew. But the moment you discover that the only signs of life on the planet are the remains of a much larger and better-equipped ship and her crew, all dead, and not by natural means, you know that your mission won’t be an easy one.

While exploring the desolate alien planet you will try to answer questions like “Who are these dead people?” and “What killed them?” Are there any other life forms on the planet that you can’t detect now?

The remastered edition packs additional scenes and HD graphics

Developer Red Herring Labs is trying to bring to life their Morningstar game by adding new puzzles into the mix, as well as new scenes and streamlined interface.

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock should also be packed with “gorgeous HD graphics,” newly remastered cinematics, which should display the haunting landscapes in beautiful HD resolution.

Last but not least, the game features full voice acting and engrossing sound effects, along with an atmospheric remastered soundtrack with over 30 minutes of original music.
