Microsoft has recently announced that its cloud storage service SkyDrive has reached a record 250 million users, only a few days after the company rolled out deeper integration with Outlook.com.

SkyDrive is expected to continue its growth, as the tech giant is looking to bet big on the cloud in the next Windows release due this summer.

Sources familiar with the matter hinted that SkyDrive could also get a number of improvements, especially because better integration in other Microsoft products is becoming a priority for the Redmond-based software vendor.

“The service continues to grow: since October 2012 when Windows 8 launched, 50 million more people have started using SkyDrive, helping us reach an important milestone – over 250 million people are now using SkyDrive as the new place to save their files,” Microsoft explained.
