Great number, says T-Mobile Germany

The Germans bought more than 10,000 iPhones on the first day of the handset's release in Germany, according to Deutsche Telekom, exclusive vendor in this country for Apple's phone.

T-Mobile made its announcement on the 10,000 iPhones sold in the first day of its release with great pride. Still, it's way below what Apple managed to pull off in the US in the first days of their handset's release, although the two markets are very much different. It might just be that everybody expected to see even lower sales results coming from this device, especially as the European market is far from being a friendly one for Apple.

The company has also high hopes for the future, especially as the holidays are coming soon enough. T-Mobile is happy at this time for the great start that the iPhone had in Germany. Moreover, it is all covered with large enough stocks as to prevent the danger of running out of such handsets. The operator's optimistic reaction on the first sales numbers can also be put on account of the fact that Apple's products are less appreciated on the European market and this made a risky launch here.

Telekom opened one of its shops, in Cologne, just after midnight. The company also took enough consideration as to offer the people waiting outside tea, coffee and blankets to help them beat low temperatures. All other T-Mobile stores opened early in the morning to start the iPhone sales.

Apple's phone has been available for the price of 400 euros (about USD585). Pretty pricey, but that's not all. There is also a 24-month calling plan with Deutsche Telekom costing a minimum price of almost 1,200 euros. Apple scored a great deal here, as it will receive a nifty percentage from all revenues, a strategy that should pay off pretty well for them in the future.
