User suggestion calls for new features in Windows 10

A user feature request posted on Microsoft’s feedback channel on UserVoice calls for the company to change the taskbar behavior from the ground up and add new features that would make it more like Apple’s own Mac OS X.

The taskbar has received slight tweaks in the latest Windows versions, and now a user request indicates some of the features that need to be improved in Windows 10 for enhanced functionality and usability.

First of all, the customization level of Windows 10 has to be better, the message points out, and receive options that are similar to those on Apple’s OS X.

“Instead of having it just clip to the corners of the screens and at full length width of the screen, with the icons from left to right, give us the option to float it like a dock, center the icons, adjust the size of the taskbar, the look. Reinvent it,” the request reads.

Working Recycle Bin icon in the taskbar

At the same time, the post, which now has nearly 250 votes, asks Microsoft to add new effects for icons in the taskbar, making them more noticeable when launching, closing, or minimizing new apps. Again, the OS X dock is used as source of inspiration, as Apple already offers such features in its OS.

And last but not least, the request calls for the company to add a working Recycle Bin icon in the taskbar, which would allow users to simply drag items they want to delete over this icon and without pressing anything else. Since the taskbar is most of the time always on top, unless you configure it otherwise, dragging the items you wish to delete over the Recycle Bin icon would really be an easy thing to do, so it’s not surprising that many people want this in Windows 10.

As far as the other requests are concerned, there are only slight chances to see them implemented, especially because Microsoft doesn’t need to go on a way that would make people compare it to its Apple rival. Apple is already doing that and nobody seems to like it.
