With the first Windows Phone 7 handsets

already hitting shelves around the world, Microsoft would have to focus more on the development of applications for the new mobile operating system, as only a small number of software solutions were made available today in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

However, more applications are expected to become available in the near future, and even more to follow after that, as more developers would be interested in bringing their solutions to the software portal.

Among the applications that would have the 'coming soon' tag on them, we can count SlingPlayer, which can be seen in the video below.

Only a teaser is available with the application for the time being, along with the promise of a new, better experience when compared to the previously available flavor.

Although the company said that the new application would offer up to four times the resolution available with Windows Mobile, no specific release date was made available for the time being.

Another interesting application users would certainly like to learn more about is Adobe’ PDF reader for Windows Phone 7, which was announced a few days ago, and which is already available in the Zune Marketplace.

The software solution became available along with two other applications for the new mobile OS from Microsoft, namely Facebook and YouTube apps.

With Facebook for Windows Phone 7, users would get the same look and feel as with the rest of the operating system, while enjoying access to their social networking account.

One feature that lacks from the current version of the application is push notifications, something that, unfortunately, lacks from a series of other Windows phone 7 applications too.

As for the YouTube app, it enables users to playback YouTube content embedded in web-pages, mails, or sms, straight to the native video player in Windows Phone 7. As mobiletechworld notes, this is not exactly an YouTube application, but merely a plug-in.

Those interested in learning more on these applications, as well as on other software available for Windows Phone 7, should fire up their Zune Desktop software and look for them in the Marketplace.
