14 DAY TRIAL // The team of developers behind NeoOffice has released a fifth patch for version 2.2.5 of the open-source suite of office apps, developed specifically for Mac OS X. The patch fixes a bunch of issues found in previous versions of the software, but also adds a hidden setting to disable all trackpad gestures in NeoOffice.
Upon releasing NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 3, the folks at NeoOffice.org added Mac OS X Services support, as well as experimental support for Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Security fixes have also made their way into the patch released in Novermber, specifically targeting manipulated WMF and EMF files that could lead to heap overflows and arbitrary code execution.
“We expect that users will find bugs in NeoOffice when running on Snow Leopard that do not exist in early versions of Mac OS X, so users should consider our Snow Leopard support to be very experimental,” the team said last month.
Patch 4 was hardly even a maintenance update for users of the full-featured office suite, fixing just one bug that prevented compatible Services from working in particular circumstances on Mac OS X 10.5.
With Patch 5 for NeoOffice 2.2.5 on the scene, the team of developers can confirm that NeoOffice now respects the “Jump to here” setting in the Appearance System Preferences, while the Print sheet will no longer attach to floating toolbar windows. The patch also fixes a bug on Mac OS X 10.5 where radio buttons and checkboxes retained the active appearance when their windows were not active, the changelog reveals. Developers were also able to address an issue where playing a sound in the Gallery could cause NeoOffice to crash. Lastly, Patch 5 has added a hidden setting to disable all trackpad gestures in NeoOffice, in case you're using the suite on your MacBook.
Note that NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 5 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.2.5, and will not install on any version of NeoOffice (2.2.4 or lower). All fixes and additions of previous patches are included in this release. Use the link below to get the latest patch for your copy of NeoOffice.
