Microsoft doesn’t talk too much about the number of apps available in the Windows Store, but several unofficial sources confirm it’s growing at a reasonably fast pace.

MetroStore Scanner, one of the services that allow you to browse the Windows Store content straight from your browser, suggests that there are more than 28,000 apps now available for Windows 8 users.

While we don’t know for sure whether this trend will continue, previous reports have indicated that more than 80 percent of the apps are delivered with a freeware license and with support for Windows RT.

The good news is that several world-renowned companies have already confirmed plans for Windows 8 apps, including Dropbox and Twitter. Facebook, on the other hand, says that no official Windows 8 client has been considered till now.
