The Start Screen is clearly one of the most controversial features implemented into Windows 8 as it replaces the traditional Start Menu offered to users since Windows 95.

And even if Windows 8 doesn’t come with its own Start Menu, third-party developers have created such apps in order to lend a hand to users who want to make the new operating system a more familiar working environment.

Pokki developers say that more than 1.5 million people have already downloaded their own Start Menu app, with statistics indicating that the average Windows 8 user opens the app 10 times a day.

“These early numbers demonstrate that users enjoy being able to instantly access and discover apps, straight from the desktop,” the company said in a blog post.

Pokki is also available for download from Softpedia, so click here to give it a spin right now.
