More Solar Charging Solutions for Your iPod

- Better Energy Systems announces Solio, 'the world's most advanced hybrid charger'

By: Filip Truta, Apple News Editor

Need more on-the-go recharging solutions? What do you mean no? Of course you do. Don't dismiss anything until you've read. Why don't you have a look at this here Solio Magnesium Edition solar charger. It works perfectly with iPods. Better Energy Systems has just announced its availability for $199.99. It's pricey yes, but we only suggested that you read about it, not buy it too.

It doesn't do much more than other solar chargers,
such as Solar Technology's Freeloader, for charging any handheld device, including iPods, PDAs, a video games console such as the PSP and so on. It does, however, perform better, meaning it charges up pretty fast. For instance, if you're going to listen to your iPod for say... an hour, all you have to do is let it see the sun for about the same amount of time.

"The Solio Magnesium Edition is the world's most advanced hybrid charger. Engineered to meet the demands of the serious adventurer, Solio Mg edition combines the most efficient solar panels with the highest capacity battery to collect and store power. The Solio Mg is our first iGo compatible charger. With expanded compatibility and a strong yet elegant magnesium alloy shell, this is the most powerful and versatile hybrid charger ever made," says Better Energy Systems.

But why is Solio a hybrid? Because Better Energy has equipped it with a couple of metal sticks too that should fit perfectly with household wall sockets. That doesn't mean that you should plug Solio in for a faster recharge of the built-in Li-Ion battery. Solio uses this energy to power your gadgets at the same rate as if they were plugged into the wall, according to Better Energy Systems.

As soon as the battery is fully replenished, you can use it to power up your iPod for more music and video. Should your trip be a long one, be sure to place Solio by your train/car/plane window so it can use the sun to power up your iPod.

One more reason why the Solio Magnesium Edition solar charger makes a good acquisition is that it will "hold its charge for up to a year," say the manufacturers. More details about Solio and its compatibility with other devices can be found at Better Energy Systems web site.
