The unannounced Samsung Galaxy Premier has just been confirmed in Taiwan. The Chinese version of the smartphone, I9260 has been approved by Taiwan’s NCC (National Communications Commission).

The handset leaked several weeks ago, but Samsung is still mum on the subject. However, given the recent approval in Taiwan, we expect the South Korean company to come out with an official announcement pretty soon.

In the meantime, we can admire the phone’s svelte body thanks to Chinese blog site Techorz which published some of the pictures filed by Samsung at Taiwan’s NCC.

Although we got some sort of confirmation that Galaxy Premier is ready for launch, we should take into consideration the fact that this is just the Chinese variant. It might take a while until similar regulatory commissions in other regions will approve the smartphone.

Well, at least we already know what to expect from Samsung Galaxy Premier. First of all, the handset strongly resembles the Galaxy S III.

It even comes with the same display only a bit smaller. The Galaxy Premier sports a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

Hardware-wise, Samsung Galaxy Premier is said to be equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. That’s only half of Galaxy S III’s amount of RAM.

It’s unclear yet whether there’ll be more variants of Galaxy Premier available on the market, but rumors suggest the smartphone might ship with either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory. The good news is that user will be able to expand it further up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

There’s also an 8-megapixel rear camera that features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary camera for video calls.

More importantly, Samsung Galaxy Premier will be powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
