Meanwhile, they might reach the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

When Telltale revived the aging franchise of Sam & Max, that pairs a detective dog with a violence-prone "bunny" (and I use the term loosely), many gamers were pretty skeptic of its chances of creating a working series of games, especially because of the fact that it aimed at episodic content, with different parts of one season delivered only a few months apart. Now, after two season runs, most commentators tend to point to Sam & Max as the perfect example of byte sized adventure gaming with a big splash of comedy to go with it.

Recently, Emily Morganti from Telltale Games talked with The BBPS about the plans that the company has regarding its Freelance Police stars. The answers were pretty informative, that much is for sure.

First up, there's official confirmation that no new Sam & Max content will hit PCs in 2008. A few sources have been speculating that Season 3 might begin just before Christmas with a first episode, but Emily Morganti says that the team needs a bit of a break from developing new content for the PC to make sure that they have a clear handle on how Season 3 will be presented and what other adventures the intrepid duo will be up to.

Nevertheless, while the characters are taking a break from the PC, they might end up on every other major gaming console. There's already a Wii version of the game in development, which will see each of the two seasons shipped for the Nintendo console on a disc, even if there was initial talk of WiiWare download. It's also pretty sure that a Xbox 360 version of the first two seasons will be available at some point, because Telltale develops its games internally for the Xbox, so no port work would be needed. It's only a question of getting the game on the Xbox Live Arcade service from Microsoft. And Morganti says that there's even a possibility of the game showing up on the PlayStation 3.

Those who have already played through the released episodes of Sam & Max will have to wait till early 2009 to see what Season 3 will offer them.
