The launch day of Windows Mobile 6.5 has come and gone, and now users will have to discover on their own all the goodies that Microsoft promised would come around with the new operating system flavor. The Redmond-based company has shown a great focus on the development of the new flavor of its Windows Mobile platform, as well as on the deployment of new services for the handsets running under the OS, yet it seems that its work is not done yet.

For starters, we should mention the launch of a website where users can learn the latest details on the Windows Mobile platform, on the applications available for the OS and on the handsets that can be purchased with Windows Mobile on board. Whether they’re looking for the latest devices launched on the market with the 6.5 flavor on board, or seeking popular phones running under older versions of the platform, they can find it all there, and they can learn more on specifications, features, availability and the operators that have the handsets available on their airwaves.

Details on the features that Windows Mobile includes are also available on the website, including some on Internet Explorer Mobile, Bing for mobile, Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile, Microsoft Office Mobile or Windows Live for Windows phones. The Windows phones are available worldwide, and users from all around the world can access the site in a wide range of language options. Moreover, the Windows Marketplace for Mobile will soon allow users to make purchases directly from their PCs at home.

But this is not all. While there are a great deal of useful details available on said website for all Windows phone users out there, the exact capabilities of their devices are things that one should discover while using them. A video recently posted on the Windows Team Blog shows how the combination between web services with Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint and the GPS capabilities of a device can easily prove to be most useful to a user on the road.

And since Internet navigation on a Windows phone relies heavily on the search engine one uses, Microsoft is also poised to deliver an updated Bing for mobile within the following weeks. “The Bing app continues to be a great tool for local searches, maps, and directions, and now it has a whole new look,” Justin Jed notes on the Bing blog. A new face for the search/decision engine is one of the things that will soon come around, yet it seems that there are also other enhancements one should expect.
