The GTX 460 will be NVIDIA's weapon aimed at the upper part of the mainstream market, the so-called performance segment, and is based on the much anticipated GF104 GPU. Since the official launch of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 is not exactly a long way off, it makes sense for various leaks to sprout, regarding the custom or reference models that its partners may or may not release. Micro-Star International has already been
revealed to be planning on showing off an overclocked version. Now, it seems that NDAs have fallen in groups, seeing how Newegg has practically listed an entire collection of GTX 460 from multiple companies.
Granted, the retailer doesn't really give the price points, but it does do a nice job of giving a general impression of what end-users may expect from the video boards. MSI's own offering, the aforementioned N460GTX Cyclone 768D5/OC, retains the reference 768 MB of memory but its GPU is factory overclocked to 725MHz. This card will have to contend with competition from Sparkle, ASUS and Palit.
Most of these players' models stay faithful to the reference construction, but there are still a couple of less ordinary members. To be more specific, MSI and Palit each is preparing, or has already prepared, a video controller with 1GB of GDDR5 and a memory interface of 256 bits. Furthermore, Palit's NE5X460SF1102 also makes a point of boosting the GPU clock by 50 MHz, matching MSI's creature with 725 MHz. Unfortunately, none of the listings actually gives any hint as to the memory clocks.
End-users from the performance segment can take a closer look at the listing by visiting
this page. One shouldn't get one's hopes up too high, however, as none of the products is really detailed in full. As for prices, they should cost about 30 to 50 Euro more than that of NVIDIA's original.
