14 DAY TRIAL // Windows users have been able to grab free downloads of Office 2010 since the productivity suite’s commercial launch. Not the same was the case with Office customers running the product on Apple Mac machines. Office for Mac 2011 hit general availability in October 2010, but it’s only now that Microsoft is providing free copies of the productivity suite to users.
I guess it’s better late than never, and it’s certainly an excellent move from the Redmond company to offer free trial versions of Office for Mac 2011.
“If you’re still thinking about Office 2011, I’m happy to announce we now have a full trial available at www.microsoft.com/mac/trial, free to use for 30-days after download. We know it’s important for some of you to be able to test out new features,” revealed Pat Fox, Senior Director of Product Management, Office for Mac.
“For those that will be trying the suite for the first time, we hope you enjoy some of the new items – Outlook for Mac, new co-authoring tools, Excel’s Sparklines, Dynamic Reorder in Word & PowerPoint, and more.”
Now both Windows and Mac users can download and test drive Office 2010 and Office 2011 respectively, free of charge.
There is a slight difference however, whereas Office 2010 will expire in 60 days, Office for Mac 2011, which is also time-bombed, is designed to last only a single month.
The trial copies of Office for both Mac and Windows are fully functioning copies of the suites, allowing users to fully test the products before deciding whether to buy them or not.
“Office for Mac 2011 has had a great launch. When I look at the results and what we set out to accomplish, I’m very impressed with the improvements and new features the team delivered. I can also say that Office 2011 has gone past our internal sales milestones,” Fox added.
