To be branded as the P526

About a week ago, I caught track of a new handheld in work at the Asus headquarters and, at that time, there were very few information about what this device will end up.

That time, I found out the Pegasus Pocket PC phone has been entered into the iF Design Awards contest and for the ones of you wondering how they ended up with this name, the mystery pretty much solved itself when I got the hint that this was the initial name of the company.

The only specs we knew then were about its 15.4 mm slim body, the numeric keypad, single handed control capability and jog dial. Of course we can't forget about the luxury touch given by Asus because the diamond cut edges and the brushed aluminum finish of the camera body would probably make it a very desirable handset for most people.

Now I've got my hands on a live photo of the Pegasus from gpsandco.com and found out that it will run a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC edition operating system, a 2 megapixel digital camera, EDGE data transfer technology and GPS capability (most probably a SiRF III GPS chipset).

Also, as we don't have yet any pieces of info to tell us if it will feature any kind of 3G, I suppose the guys from the States could expect it to go their way.

No other info to top this cake for now but from the looks of it, we have a good reason to wait for this handset, if not for shear performance at least for its good looks and everything else that makes it such a handheld super-model and, I'm pretty sure, most of you agree with me on this matter.

See you next time when other goodies about the Pegasus will come to surface and be sure we will keep you posted if anything comes our way.
