Sadly he can't give any details

The shooter genre has certainly delivered a lot of highly successful franchises, the likes of Halo, Resistance or Gears of War in recent years. But one of the series that have truly brought the genre into mainstream attention and into the hearts of many gamers all around the world is Counter Strike.

Originally developed as a mod to Valve's Half Life title, it became hugely popular, prompting the company to acquire the team responsible for it and create new iterations, with the most recent one being Counter Strike Source.

Sadly though, in recent times, the team at Valve has neglected the team-based first person shooter as it focused on new projects, like the recently announced Left 4 Dead 2, or continued support for Team Fortress 2. But there’s at least one man who would love some more Counter Strike, Valve writer Chet Faliszek, who talked about it with VideoGamer.

“Personally, I would like to see some more Counter Strike,” the Valve employee said. “Left 4 Dead made me stop playing that for a while, I was just concentrating on that. I used to play a lot of Day of Defeat! I still go back and play some.”

Of course, Faliszek didn't answer any questions regarding the subject or state that it might be a tease for a big announcement. “That’s one of those things that we’re not talking about today,” he said smiling. “I don’t know if there will ever be a game called Half Life 3 or Portal 2. We‘ll see!”

Valve is a pretty big company, and although its next announced project is Left 4 Dead 2, which will be arriving this fall, it's a safe bet that it already has the future of Counter Strike and all its other franchises planned for quite some time. Hopefully we will get some concrete announcements soon enough.
