The development team at Rogue Factor and publisher Focus Home Interactive announce that they are working on a new title called Mordheim: City of the Damned, a game based on the classic Warhammer title setting created by Games Workshop.

Players will be able to take control of warbands in the declining city of the Empire, with any encounter solved using tactical combat, with unit customization and a role-playing system for upgrades also playing a role.

The developers explain in the official announcement that, “Pick your warbands from iconic Mordheim factions - Sisters of Sigmar, Possessed, Skaven, Mercenaries from the Empire, and many more - and lead your troops to battle. Recruit new units, equip them with enhanced gear.”

The city of Mordheim is one of the most interesting settings created in the Warhammer fantasy universe and the devastation that a comet generated can be used by the gamer to create some truly unique battlefields.

Rogue Factor says that any unit that’s lost in battle is gone forever, which forces players to carefully consider their tactics and risks that their orders carry when executed.

The game will include a complex single-player campaign that will focus on quests and on acquiring Wyrdstones and a set of multiplayer modes.

Mordheim: City of the Damned will be launched before the end of 2014.
