14 DAY TRIAL // Developer Rogue Factor and publisher Focus Home Interactive have added a fourth playable warband, the Cult of the Possessed, to the Mordheim: City of the Damned strategy video game.
The game is the first ever video game adaptation of one of Games Workshops' beloved tabletop franchises, Mordheim. It's a blend of role-playing game and turn-based tactics mechanics, set in the fantasy world of Warhammer.
The Cult of the Possessed joins the already existing warbands, the Mercenaries of the Empire, the Skaven of Clan Eshin, and the Sisters of Sigmar.
The release of Phase 3 marks the introduction of extended warband management, enabling you to choose which of your units will head in and out of combat, and some new mission objectives in Skirmish mode.
Crush Their Will is a neat spin on the classic Capture the Flag mechanic, Wyrdstone Rush is an objective that sends you out to collect some precious shards for your team, and Marked for Death requires you to hunt and kill a specific enemy unit.
The Cult is a welcome addition
By far, the most exciting addition is the new warband. The cult is comprised of worshipers of the Dark Gods of Chaos, a group of mutants and degenerates seeking to curry favor with the Shadowlord by returning the Wyrdstone to the Pit, and by slaughtering everyone they run into.
They come with a few skills of their own, such as Terror, a passive ability that enforces a leadership test on any unit that passes through their threat zone, and Boon of Chaos, which offers a squadmate a potent buff to aid in combat.
Mordheim: City of the Damned is currently available on Steam Early Access, and to celebrate entering Phase 3 of the program, the devs are offering the game at 33 percent off until Friday, February 6.
Rogue Factor has also released a brand new trailer for the game, depicting the Cult of the Possessed in action, and showing everyone what's new in Mordheim: City of the Damned.
