The clever marketing campaign seeks to enlist you as a monument man or woman

The latest promotional trailer for “Monuments Men” is very clever. It's been made to sound and look like one of the newsreels shown in cinemas during World War II and it basically can be called a recruitment video.

The film “Monuments Men” is a story about a group of Allied soldiers who fought in the war to save pieces of art from being captured or destroyed by the Nazis. The movie is based on the book with the same name by Robert Edsel, who also helped with the script.

John Clooney stars, co-writes, directs, and produces, in what is clearly a project dear to his heart. He has also enlisted the names of some Hollywood heavyweights to star alongside him as Monuments Men. Matt Damon, Bill Murray, and John Goodman will be trying “to save Europe's great cultural achievements from certain destruction in the last days of the war.”

The film was slated to be released on December 18, but it was pushed back to February 7, probably in an effort to make it more noticeable. Christmas time is always busy in terms of movie releases and “Monuments Men” would have had little chance against big blockbusters such as “The Hobbit 2” or “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
