Inspired by minimalist 3D design, optical illusions, and places from around the world, Monument Valley is the hottest addition to the App Store this week and, not surprisingly, the game is ranked as the top selling app for iPhone and iPad.

Likely played best on iPads, Monument Valley has players manipulating impossible architecture with a mission to guide a silent princess through a strange world.

“Monument Valley is a surreal exploration through fantastical architecture and impossible geometry. Guide the silent princess Ida through mysterious monuments, uncovering hidden paths, unfolding optical illusions and outsmarting the enigmatic Crow People,” says developer ustwo.

Players must twist and drag the world to reshape it and find the solution to each puzzle. The game is reportedly designed to be easy for everyone to pick up and enjoy. Monument Valley is best experienced with headphones, according to its creators.

iCloud integration allows players to synchronize their progress across devices, meaning you can pick up where you left off any time, any place. The game is localized in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

To download Monument Valley, you need iOS 6.0 (or newer) running on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPod touch fourth generation, and iPod touch fifth generation.
