The rabbit, dubbed Frankenstein, looks utterly terrifying

The Boettcher family in Mankato, Minnesota first caught a glimpse of the monster rabbit pictured above some weeks ago. At that time, the rabbit appeared seemingly out of nowhere and started hopping around their home.

Since then, it's been visiting them way more often than they want it to. The Boettchers suspect that Frankenstein lives someplace near their home, and that this is why it keeps showing up in their yard.

“Whenever we got close, he always ran away. We could never get a close look at him,” 20-year-old Gunnar told the press.

The rabbit, dubbed Frankenstein by the Boettchers, most likely started growing these gruesome, antler-like horns after it had been infected by the cottontail papilloma virus.

Daily Mail explains that the horns are actually tumors, and that, one day, they will grow large enough to make it impossible for the rabbit to feed itself. This means that the animal will sooner or later die.
