Paul W.S. Anderson, who is at the moment working on Resident Evil: Retribution, has confirmed that he might be working on a Monster Hunter movie after his current project is done.

In an interview for a Japanese publication he stated, “Recently, I’ve been loving Monster Hunter. A film conversion is currently in planning.”

The way the answer is offered in Japanese makes it hard to say whether the movie director is just thinking about creating a movie based on Monster Hunter or whether he is actually in talks with Capcom to create it.

Paul W.S. Anderson has a long history with movies based on video games, including Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive in addition to the very successful Resident Evil series.

Monster Hunter is one of the most successful Capcom franchises on the Japanese market and the game has also performed well in the West when localized versions were offered.

It’s not yet clear how the gameplay of the game might be turned into an interesting movie experience.
