Laptops aren't quite made with further hardware customization in mind, but changing the RAM and storage is still pretty easy, so Monster Digital is building on that.

The company has introduced the Daytona Series of 2.5-inch SSDs, measuring 7mm in thickness and available in 90 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities.

In that order, they are priced at $99.99, $109.99, $229.99 and $479.99 (the same amount of Euro in Europe, regardless of what exchange rates might say).

All the drives ship with an installation kit, cloning software, a SATA 3/USB 3.0 adapter, a 3.5-inch bay adapter (for desktop use) and an upgrade guide. The performance is rated at 550 MB/s read, 515 MB/s write and 60,000 IOPS for random 4K write.

Shipments will begin at the end of the month (September 2012).
