Japanese company iiyama has had the ProLite series of monitors out and selling for a long time, so it is no shock to see two new models joining the ranks of this product series, even if availability is restricted to just one country, for now at least.

On the market of monitors, things have evolved over the past years, to the point where Full HD image quality, among other things, has turned into something akin to a standard, even though HD is still widespread.

This is because the technologies used to create them have been refined and are no longer too money-draining, the same way LED has gotten so cheap that there are display size ranges where CCFL no longer has the affordability advantage.

The new monitors that iiyama built are more or less this very sort of LCDs, with screen sizes of 24 inches (XB2472HD-B) and 27 inches (X2775HDS-B).

The former has a special stand, whose height adjustability and mechanics allow owners to tilt, swivel and pivot the screen, so that one can even switch between portrait and landscape views.

Its dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) is of 5,000,000:1 (static ratio is 3,000:1), while the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels is joined on the spec sheet by a response time of 8 ms GTG (gray-to-gray), viewing angles of 178 degrees (horizontal and vertical) and the ECO mode, which reduced power use by up to 10%.

The other panel, X2775HDS-B, has a diagonal length of 27 inches, but lacks most of the adjustments possible on its sibling (it can only tilt). Still, it does have the benefit of two 2W speakers and a 4-port USB hub.

The rest of its features are the same as those on the 24-incher, down to the connectivity capabilities (D-Sub, DVI and HDMI).

The 24-inch XB2472HD-B has a price of $323, while the 27-inch X2775HDS-B sells for $427. They are only available in Japan.
